About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Value Village. As a Custodian, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our store, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our customers and team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the sales floor, cash register bays, break rooms, bathrooms, trash areas, and store front.
- Operate industrial cleaning equipment and appliances, and safely dispose of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
- Provide excellent customer service, engaging with customers using the Five Elements of the Customer Experience.
- Meet targets and complete duties and additional projects as assigned by manager.
- Follow loss prevention procedures and report internal or external theft to a manager.
- Ensure a safe environment for team members, shoppers, and donors by following safety standards and reporting hazards or injuries to a manager.
Requirements:
- Ability to read and write.
- Customer service skills requiring courtesy and good communication skills.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Knowledge of use and safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations at the level normally required in high school.
Working Conditions:
- Continuous exposure to dust.
- Exposure to temperature fluctuations periodically.
- Flexible with scheduling changes due to store needs and sales events.
- May require overtime from time to time due to store needs.
