Job Summary:

Waste Connections US, Inc. is seeking a skilled CDL Route Driver to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a CDL Route Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste, interacting with customers, and performing routine maintenance on vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Read electronic route tablets and service each customer identified on the route or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Operate hydraulic lifts to service garbage carts and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Load and unload trash, often with no helpers, and interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds, is required throughout an 8+ hour shift.
  • Work environment involves exposure to physical risks, such as moving mechanical parts, and requires adherence to basic safety precautions.
  • Employee is exposed to outside weather conditions, including frequent wet conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement as a minimum.
  • Clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of truck components to complete DOT pre- and post-trip inspections.
