Job Title: Mechanical Operations Manager

Join CP as a Mechanical Operations Manager to lead the team in ensuring efficient locomotive maintenance and repair operations.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to manage the daily activities of our mechanical forces, including planning, coordinating, and executing repairs, maintenance, and other tasks. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of railway operations, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Direct, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of mechanical technicians to ensure they meet performance targets and key metrics.
  • Safety Management: Oversee the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to minimize risk and promote a safe working environment.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure adequate stock levels and manage inventory turnover effectively.
  • Communication: Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders, including field operations, management, and union representatives, to drive collaboration and shared goals.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent and relevant trade certification (e.g., mechanical).
  • Extensive knowledge of railway operations, including road, yard, locomotive, and mechanical aspects.
  • Working familiarity with CP's systems, such as CIM, TYES, YOP, Nexus, ITM, SAP, and Wreck Estimator.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to drill down to root causes and resolve complex issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse groups and adapt to changing priorities.
