Operations Trainee Job Description

Craftsman Collision is a leading auto body repair chain in Canada, committed to excellence and customer satisfaction. We're seeking an Operations Trainee to support our operations manager on the Island.

This role involves assisting multiple locations in a region, providing leadership and guidance to ensure efficient and effective shop operations. The successful candidate will have a competitive salary range between $45,000 - $55,000 per year, along with 3 weeks of paid vacation per year.

Frequent travel across several locations in the area is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service, both internally and externally, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Support daily operations by providing leadership to ensure stakeholder objectives are met in a safe, effective, ethical, and positive manner.
  • Support management of shop operations in alignment with The Craftsman Way (TCW).
  • Provide vacation coverage as required under the direction of the regional operations manager.
  • Use company dashboard to accurately identify and prioritize tasks.
  • Actively participate in daily production meetings.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Write estimates and schedules repairs as required.
  • Use Craftsman Management System to enter parts and sublet invoices as required.
  • Utilize expert understanding and application of all insurance/fleet specific policies and procedures.
  • Support daily production, work flow, and quality control of the shop.
  • Walk with purpose, demonstrate care about the whole vehicle and all stakeholders.
  • Work with assigned Operations team members and Shop Manager to follow operational goals, in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Proactively take steps and leverage all systems and resources to reduce effort in order to increase touch time and reduce vehicle days in shop.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote their consistent application within the Company.
  • Bring forward suggestions for training needs based on observations.
  • Bring forward suggestions to continuously improve processes.
  • Support company standards in SPARKLE, safety, and security.
  • Represent and promote the Craftsman Collision brand in a positive manner aligned with stated values in all dealings internal and external.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Working towards I-CAR Platinum certification an asset.
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening skills, combined with the ability to interact and gain the support of senior leadership and other decision-makers.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated time management, problem-solving, critical thinking, and sound judgment skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Proficient in Outlook and video conferencing platforms with the ability and willingness to learn new applications.
  • Demonstrated desire and aptitude for learning and development.
  • Interest in vehicles and the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in ADAS systems, vehicle calibrations, and emerging vehicle technologies an asset.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract over the last 3 years.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with no restrictions.
