Job Title: Field Service Technician

At Alfa Laval, we're committed to delivering exceptional service and support to our customers. As a Field Service Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation and optimal performance of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site service and support for mechanical and electrical components of Decanters, High Speed Separators, and Plate Heat Exchangers.
  • Install, configure, modify, overhaul, fault diagnose, and repair Alfa Laval products, equipment, and systems.
  • Perform trial test runs to ensure performance rates and quality meet established specifications.
  • Document equipment serviced, parts used, travel/site hours, and expenses to support customer invoicing.
  • Advise operators and maintenance personnel on operating procedures for working safely around our equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance service calls on customer equipment.
  • Assist customer maintenance personnel with technical and procedural troubleshooting techniques.
  • Assist and train customer maintenance and supervisory personnel on how to operate our equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Proactively visit customers to develop new relationships and maintain existing ones.
  • Review upcoming service visits and customer requests to ensure excellent customer service and experience.
  • Proactively recommend replacement parts, critical stock parts, and system upgrades via phone and/or in person.
  • Prepare customer service reports after each service visit to effectively communicate findings, work performed, recommendations, and suggested replacement or spare parts.
  • Manage travel arrangements and expenses.
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time, requiring a passport.
  • Provide daily reports of activity to the Field Service Manager when on a job and working from the home office.
  • Act in accordance with Alfa Laval standards, adhering to ISO9001 and QHSE requirements.
  • Perform platform/offshore work as required.
Requirements:
  • Technical diploma with a mechanical or electrical focus or technical/vocational training.
  • Journeyman status in mechanical or electrical with mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Minimum of five to ten years of industrial experience with a mechanical or electrical focus or demonstrated work-related mechanical and/or electrical proficiency.
  • 3-5 years of experience with heat exchangers and/or separation equipment.
Desired Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience and knowledge of heat transfer systems and separation equipment.
  • Broad-based, hands-on knowledge and experience with various types of mechanical equipment to provide technical guidance and troubleshooting solutions.
  • Ability to listen to customer needs and develop action plans to satisfy their needs.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance work processes.
  • General knowledge of vibration analysis.
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer relationship building abilities with excellent influencing, persuading, and negotiating skills.
  • High energy with a high level of self-initiative and strong sense of urgency.
  • High integrity.
  • Computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to use measuring devices (multi-meter, temperature, pressure, airflow, etc.).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, piping, and instrumentation diagrams (PID).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems and work independently.
  • Safety training, staying current with annual, monthly, and bi-annual required training for immediate job site access.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to qualify and perform offshore or platform work.
  • Ability to travel internationally without restrictions.
  • Ability to work at heights of up to approximately 50ft using proper safety gear.
