Job Description

The BMO Global Equity team is seeking a highly skilled Global Sector Analyst to join their team in Toronto. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for performing qualitative and financial analysis on companies within the consumer discretionary and staples sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the consumer discretionary and staples sectors, including industry trends, management, strategy, and capital allocation.
  • Conduct financial and qualitative analysis on companies within the sector, including stock selection and decision-making expertise.
  • Develop and articulate a sector perspective, including the ability to broaden understanding and relationship of macro-economic, geopolitical, and world issues.
  • Pitch timely high conviction and actionable investment recommendations and sector ideas to the team.
  • Conduct independent research and develop differentiated insights, including unique and innovative analysis, supported by data.
  • Publish reports that include in-depth and critical research/analysis and investment rationale.
  • Communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders, including articulating and influencing others to your point of view.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of related or direct experience in the investment management industry.
  • Progress toward CFA charter preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in deep, differentiated fundamental analysis within the investment industry.
  • Working knowledge of capital markets and investment management.
  • Deep curiosity on subject matter.
  • Articulate and confident communication skills.
  • Desire to contribute meaningfully in a small, entrepreneurial team environment.
  • Proven ability to take projects from start to finish.
  • Willingness to work independently while developing within a culture of mentorship and collaboration.
  • Team player who can support Portfolio Managers and other Analysts in report writing and ad-hoc projects.
  • Open and inquisitive mind willing to accept new ideas while challenging existing assumptions.
  • Desire to build a long-term career with a strong, growing organization.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $76,300.00 - $142,100.00, with a commission structure. The total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards. BMO offers health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
