Job Summary: AVI Health and Community Services is seeking a skilled Community Crisis Counsellor to join our Crisis Response Team. The successful candidate will provide acute mobile crisis support and de-escalation services for individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use related crises.

About the Role: As a member of our crisis response team, you will work collaboratively with peers and mental health professionals to provide crisis management and de-escalation services. You will conduct assessments, develop safety plans, and provide follow-up care to individuals in crisis. This role requires a strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches, harm reduction, and social justice principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Crisis Response: Provide acute mobile crisis support and de-escalation services for individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use related crises.
  2. Situational Awareness, Scene Safety, and Unpredictable Working Conditions: Utilize situational awareness, assessment, de-escalation, and mental health training to work safely within changing and unpredictable environments.
  3. Program Development and Accountability: Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, self-reflection, and improvement, and adhere to all CLCR Program Policies and Practices.

Requirements: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in mental health services, de-escalation, and crisis response, and a strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches, harm reduction, and social justice principles. You must have a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and a driver's abstract with no suspensions or prohibitions.
