Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to join our team at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. This 13-week contract position will involve working in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (OR) and requires strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgical team in the OR by scrubbing on operative procedures, obtaining and preparing instruments and equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment.
  • Perform patient care activities with compassion, dignity, and respect.
  • Maintain aseptic technique at all times.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in gowning and gloving.
  • Prepare supplies and equipment according to procedural and surgeon preferences.
  • Check equipment and instrumentation for proper function prior to procedures.
  • Perform as first scrub.
  • Prepare rooms for subsequent patients.
  • Prepare instruments for decontamination.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • BLS CPR certification required.
  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program including clinical experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Surgical Technician required.
  • Experience in pediatric cardiovascular OR highly preferred.
  • Certified by The Association of Surgical Technologists, The National Board of Surgical Technology, or The Surgical Assisting Liaison Council Certificate of Surgical Technology required.
