Job Summary
The Senior Legal Counsel, Real Estate and Development Law will provide a full range of legal services in relation to real estate and development law matters. This includes drafting standard and complex agreements relating to residential, commercial, and industrial land development.
Reporting to the Deputy City Solicitor, the Senior Legal Counsel will provide opinions and advice to Council and Committees, and the Administration on complex matters; participate in corporate wide projects; represent the City at courts and tribunals; negotiate and draft agreements, bylaws and policies, as applicable; provide oversight and lead strategic operational initiatives for the relevant practice area; supervise and/or manage paralegals, law clerks, students, and other legal staff, as assigned; and act as backup to the Deputy City Solicitor, as required.
- Provide a full range of legal services in relation to real estate and development law matters, including drafting standard and complex agreements;
- Report to the Deputy City Solicitor and provide opinions and advice to Council and Committees, and the Administration on complex matters;
- Negotiate and draft agreements, bylaws and policies, as applicable;
- Supervise and/or manage paralegals, law clerks, students, and other legal staff, as assigned;
- Act as backup to the Deputy City Solicitor, as required.
