Job Title: Purchasing and Inventory Specialist

Job Summary:

Graymont Limited is seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to fill the position of Purchasing and Inventory Specialist. This role will play a key part in the plant's Purchasing and Inventory Management process, ensuring the effective management of goods and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process purchase requisitions from various plant departments.
  • Conduct comprehensive searches for goods and services, evaluating quality, specifications, price, availability, and delivery requirements.
  • Create purchase orders, ensuring accurate cost center and account information.
  • Ensure Procurement to Payment (P2P) processes are followed, executing high-quality purchase transactions.
  • Facilitate effective communication between purchase requestors and vendors.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing information.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
  • Ensure spare parts are traceable and stocked at optimal levels.
  • Regularly review and remove obsolete parts and equipment.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in warehouse areas.
  • Train maintenance employees on inventory management systems.
  • Verify delivery, receiving, and stocking of parts within 24 hours.
  • Organize and assemble materials, parts, and tools for jobs and special work orders.
  • Update work orders when parts are received and job kits are ready.
  • Develop strategies to manage consumables effectively.
  • Maximize part synergies with neighboring plants and coordinate transfers.
  • Maintain proper labeling and use of barcodes for spare parts.
  • Reduce unnecessary equipment downtime through procurement process management.
  • Participate in shutdown planning to facilitate work and parts flow.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of safe work and safety leadership.
  • Previous experience and/or training in supply management.
  • Good mechanical knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel). High degree of proficiency in JD Edwards.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
