**Job Summary:**


The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Youth Justice, Employment & Recreation Worker. This is a full-time term position based out of La Ronge, requiring the successful candidate to work with youth and provide individualized services through a case management model.


**Key Responsibilities:**



  • Recruit initial youth and additional participants
  • Provide individualized services through a case management model
  • Organize and implement cultural activities and events, educational activities, employment opportunities, recreational activities, and volunteer activities
  • Approach Elders and mentors to provide positive mentoring and assist in cultural reclamation activities
  • Engage through one-on-one and group contact to establish positive relationships
  • Assist in identifying strengths/interests, internal and external resources, and criminogenic risk areas
  • Holding the youth accountable for their choices and actions by challenging antisocial or pro-criminal behavior and encouraging personal responsibility
  • Establishing/re-establishing attachments with family and community
  • Facilitating frequent and meaningful activities between the youth, the family, and other natural supports
  • Addressing criminogenic risk areas, including education, employment, family circumstances, companions, antisocial patterns, pro-criminal attitudes, leisure, substance use/abuse, self-management, residence, instability, and financial instability

**Requirements:**



  • Diploma in Mental Health and Wellness or related field
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • A combination of education and/or work experience with families, children, and youth
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and community-based services
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of disability and wellness programs, applications, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wellness
  • Demonstrated sense of diplomacy, negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Written and communication skills
  • Organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Driver's Abstract
