About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supply Chain Contract Manager to join our team at Telesat. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for managing complex contracts and ensuring the effective acquisition of goods and services in support of our company objectives.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contract Management: Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of corporate policies and purchasing processes to mitigate potential risks to Telesat in connection with supply chain management.
  • Supply Chain Risk Assessment: Perform supply chain risk assessments, undertake due diligence tasks, and champion the down selection process to ensure the procurement of high-quality goods and services.
  • Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with the Legal department to draft and implement all contract templates, including purchase agreements, amendments, renewals, and Statements of Work.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Manage supplier performance throughout the execution lifecycle, including sourcing, RFP preparation, proposal evaluation, negotiation, award, execution, administration, and closeout phases.
  • Financial Stewardship: Demonstrate effective financial stewardship through budget monitoring and ongoing cost reduction goal setting to deliver value to the company.
  • Process Improvement: Seek out continuous improvements to procurement-related systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Management: Establish, foster, and maintain good working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders from all operating units within Telesat.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or higher-level university degree in a relevant discipline such as Commerce, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience working in supply chain or procurement, ideally in a complex technology-based environment with long-term programs and multiple supplier contracts.
  • Professional Designation: Professional designation in Procurement (e.g., CIPS, CSCP).
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong knowledge of purchasing ethics, practices, and policies, and capacity to manage time in a fast-paced environment with occasionally overlapping priorities.
Assets
  • Bilingualism: Bilingual in English and French an asset (but not required).
  • Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
