Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Control Specialist to join our team at Webber. As a key member of our infrastructure management team, you will be responsible for responding to incidents on provincial highways and ensuring the safety of the traveling public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Incident Response: Respond to incidents on provincial highways, including traffic accidents, spills, and emergency situations.
  • Liaison with Emergency Services: Serve as a primary liaison between provincial and local police, fire, and emergency responders during incident management.
  • Communication and Reporting: Communicate with the Ministry of Transportation Traffic Operations Centre by 2-way radio and telephone to provide information and updates pertaining to incidents.
  • Detour Coordination: Coordinate detour routes in the event of an asset (system or road) closure.
  • Investigation and Reporting: Conduct follow-through investigation on all fatalities to determine if facilities contributed to the accident.
  • File Maintenance: Track and maintain files on all major incidents and accidents involving assets, personnel, and equipment within contract limitation.
  • Third-Party Claims Administration: Assist with the administration of third-party claims by gathering documentation, paperwork, and other relevant information.
  • Special Events Coordination: Coordinate special events involving traffic control, detours, and/or closures.
  • Other Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma - required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years' work experience in highway maintenance operations, freeway traffic control, and incidents/accidents management.
  • Driver's License: Valid Class DZ driver's license is required with a good driving record to drive company vehicle.
  • Certification: OTM BOOK 7 certification required.
Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fume or airborne particles, and frequent exposure to insects and infrequent exposure to reptiles/rodents. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be more than moderate on occasion.
