Laboratory Assistant

As a Laboratory Assistant at LifeLabs, you will play a critical role in patient care and our business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting patients, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring patients follow necessary test protocols.
- Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
- Collecting special test specimens, such as medical/legal drug screens and paternity tests, and completing related documentation.
- Maintaining client relationships, responding to inquiries, and following up on requests.
- Completing data entry of patient demographics, requisition information, and other relevant details.
- Preparing specimens for transportation and testing.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- ECG training or experience is an asset.
- Proficient data entry skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
