Procurement Specialist Job Description

As a key member of the Operations team, the Procurement Specialist plays a vital role in leading essential procurement processes, RFPs, negotiations, and cost analysis. This position is responsible for ensuring top-notch customer satisfaction by handling inquiries and optimizing purchasing activities for goods and services in the organization's best interest.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the procurement process from purchase request to on-time delivery and acceptance, ensuring proper date alignment with manufacturing schedules.
  • Coordinate activities within the Supply Chain team and wider business to ensure successful fulfillment of the manufacturing plan.
  • Drive actions to improve on-time delivery to customers.
  • Evaluate supplier quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers and negotiate to achieve outlined budgets.
  • Align supplier schedules with facility needs and obtain schedule and delivery confirmations from suppliers to mitigate delivery risks.
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality products are received according to schedule.
  • Collaborate with Quality to ensure supplier material meets specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Support strategic projects in support of facility/company goals.
  • Timely resolve and manage supplier payment and invoice issues.
  • Ensure compliance for suppliers and all procurement to policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • University Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Inventory/Resource Management related program (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 3-5 years buying and/or planning experience.
  • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft suite of programs with emphasis on Excel and Project.
  • Knowledge of inventory management processes and philosophies, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Just in Time (JIT). Microsoft Dynamics experience would be considered an asset.
  • Continuous Improvement process experience.
  • Able to communicate and present precise information to internal/external customers and leadership.
  • Self-directed and action-oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work effectively with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.
