Position Overview

The Clinical Dietitian will provide and promote optimal nutritional care to clients according to professional standards of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Care: Provide personalized nutrition care to clients, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
  • Education: Educate clients, staff, and students on nutrition-related topics, promoting healthy eating habits and disease prevention.
  • Quality: Ensure the quality of nutrition care services, adhering to professional standards and guidelines.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest nutrition research and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve client care.
  • Research: Participate in research projects, contributing to the advancement of nutrition knowledge and practice.
  • Safety: Ensure a safe environment for clients, staff, and visitors, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Two years' clinical nutrition experience preferred.
  • Experience working with outpatients, providing nutrition counseling and education.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Nutritional Sciences or a related field from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent.
  • Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program accredited by Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP).
  • Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
  • Membership with the Dietitians of Canada (DC) is recommended.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical nutrition therapies.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and respond with initiative.
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills, including prioritizing workload.
  • Ability to function with minimum direction.
  • Problem-solving and critical analysis skills.
  • Ability to use professional judgment to adapt and apply evidenced-based guidelines and protocols.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods without resting.
  • Ability to work under stress and time constraints.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
  • Occasional travel to meetings and ability to work extended hours and varied shifts.
