Electrical Designer Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join our team at Buhler Industries Inc. in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. As an Electrical Designer, you will play a key role in designing and integrating electrical/electronic systems for our next generation of heavy-duty agricultural machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including high-voltage power distribution, low-voltage power distribution, and electrical harness design.
  • Ensure components and systems meet specified technical product demands, product safety requirements, market regulations, and relevant industry standards.
  • Analyze product requirements, concepts, and proposals, and perform gap analysis.
  • Create and maintain documentation associated with projects, including product and component specifications, functional block diagrams, and detailed electrical schematics.
  • Work closely with design team members to integrate electrical/electronic systems with hydraulics, structures, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessment as part of the functional safety of the design.
  • Use test equipment to measure performance and troubleshoot.
Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. in Electrical or related engineering discipline.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGM.
  • Minimum of 5 years design experience in mobile/self-propelled equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronics, electric motors, data busses, including CAN bus (SAE J1939), ISOBUS (ISO 11783).
  • Interest in vehicle electrification, automation, and control.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA (SAE J1739) and functional safety (ISO 25119).
  • Knowledge of related industry standards, safety, and compliance.
  • Experience with electrical CAD software, Zuken preferred.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and successful completion of deliverables.
  • A strong technical capability and ability to work in a team environment.
