Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of Toronto. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, operation, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Operate and maintain computerized building automation systems (BAS) to manage and control building systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of building equipment, including pumps, air handling units, and chillers.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and minor repairs to building equipment and fixtures.
  • Assist tradespeople as required and perform related maintenance work as assigned.
Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma and a technician qualification in a building trade or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the maintenance and operation of large commercial buildings, including experience with air distribution systems and modern air conditioning systems.
  • Knowledge of heating boilers, chemical treatment of chilled and hot water systems, building electrical systems, UPS power systems, fire safety equipment, and fire suppression systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals, and to communicate effectively with other staff.
  • Ability to work all shifts for a 24/7 building operation.
