Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated High School Teacher to join our team at Kitasoo Community School. As a member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality learning experience for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of secondary courses in high school grades, including English, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • Plan and implement the re-designed BC Curriculum, incorporating local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Use assessment, diagnosis, and intervention techniques to support students with learning difficulties.
  • Develop and implement outdoor, place-based lessons in the Great Bear Rainforest, promoting experiential learning and environmental stewardship.
Requirements
  • BC Teacher Certification
  • Bachelor of Education (or higher)
  • Ability to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Strong classroom management skills and effective communication skills
  • Interest in outdoor land-based education and willingness to embed local Indigenous culture into teaching practices
