About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Architect to join our team. As a key member of our Infrastructure Management team, you will play a critical role in supporting the improvement of provincially owned properties, including museums, courthouses, correctional facilities, research centers, and heritage sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide input to the Capital Planning process and assess existing infrastructure to inform strategic decisions.
  • Participate in the development of scopes for approved projects and provide design services within the capacity of the team.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Services team to support the Real Estate and Infrastructure Management Branch.
  • Provide technical and construction administration support to project teams during the tender, award, execution, and close-out phases of projects.
  • Facilitate the development of corporate standards that support decision-making and influence portfolio investment.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Architect with the Nova Scotia Association of Architects (NSAA) or eligible for licensure through an association with a reciprocity agreement.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in architectural design and project management.
  • Proven track record of providing technical and design services at all stages of project planning and execution.
  • Experience working with skilled tradespeople, construction supervisors, engineers, and design consultants.
  • Strong problem-solving competencies and superior communication skills.

Working Conditions

This position includes a combination of office and field work, with normal hazards associated with construction sites and working near heavy equipment. Some travel and associated overtime may be required.
