The Tsleil-Waututh Nation School is a culturally responsive learning environment that prioritizes the well-being of students, families, and the community. Our program is designed to provide a positive learning environment where the universal growth needs of all children are met.

Our Approach

We recognize that learning flourishes in a holistic environment that incorporates TWN culture, outdoor experiential education, and daily opportunities for cultural immersion. Our teaching program is centered on cultural knowledge holders and experts, who share their ancestral languages, stories, songs, dances, and cultural practices with our students.

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional teacher to join our team as an On-Call Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for covering classes of regular learning group teachers and may also work as a resource teacher within the school, supporting the learning environment and students.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching
  • Excellent verbal, written, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Displays social-emotional competencies of self-awareness, empathy, flexibility, relationship-building, and responsible decision-making
  • Ability to implement effective strategies to engage and support academic success for all learners in an inclusive environment
  • Experience in designing and applying various assessment techniques to measure and monitor student progress
  • Committed to professional development with a desire to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies to provide a creative, engaged, and inclusive classroom experience
  • Ability to apply relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Education Degree (Secondary Level)
  • Valid BC Teaching certificate or eligibility for certification through the BC Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB)
