Caseworker Assistant

At The Salvation Army, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Caseworker to join our team at the Brantford Booth Centre. As a Caseworker, you will play a vital role in supporting men who require transitional housing and federal release programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  
• Maintain an active caseload and complete intakes and assessments for each resident.
  
• Provide problem-solving and referral counseling to shelter and CRF clients.
  
• Develop a network and make referrals to existing community services and resources.
  
• Design and implement an interview schedule to evaluate the effectiveness of program participants.
  
• Provide assistance to front desk personnel as needed, including responding to client issues and crises.
  
• Record activities and incidents using a log book and incident occurrence reports.
  
• Work closely with supervisors and carry out assigned tasks.
  
• Perform other duties as required.
  

Working Conditions:

This is a permanent, part-time position with 15 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required, and the work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• 
  
• University or college diploma in social services, or combination of education and related life experience.
  
• Possess current First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates.
  
• Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  

Experience and Knowledge:

• 
  
• Demonstrate knowledge of community-based resources.
  

Skills and Capabilities:

• 
  
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  
• Competent on word processing equipment, such as Microsoft Office and Excel.
  
• Ability to work with socially disadvantaged people and federal release clients.
  
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  
• The Enhanced Reliability Screening with Corrections Canada is required.
  
• Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully.
  
• Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army.
