Job Type: Temporary Full Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in the Acute Medicine Surge 1B unit at Sault Area Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the Nursing Process and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Provide health education to patients and families, promoting healthy behaviors and self-management skills.
  • Make clinical decisions, exercising judgment to ensure best possible nursing care is provided within available resources.
  • Participate in the implementation and practice of a theory-based practice approach to nursing care.
  • Contribute to the development of Nursing and Unit objectives, ensuring alignment with Hospital Mission Statements and Nursing Philosophy.
  • Comply with legislative, organizational, and departmental regulations, standards, and procedures related to occupational health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
  • Current certification in venipuncture (certification).
  • Niche, Pieces, or other similar geriatric nursing certification.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated clinical competency in the management and care of patients in the medical unit.
  • Knowledge in the utilization and care of all mechanical equipment required for patient care.
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
  • Knowledgeable in the care of the Geriatric patient.
  • Human relations skills, including empathy, sensitivity, understanding of human and organizational behavior, motivational techniques, and counseling skills (teaching patients).
