Maintenance Operations Manager

Our innovative food portfolio includes a wide range of products from beloved brands like La Brea Bakery, Otis Spunkmeyer, and Oakrun Farm Bakery. With 13 bakeries across North America, we are committed to driving innovation, predicting consumer trends, and exceeding customer expectations.
The Maintenance Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This position involves reviewing and prioritizing work orders, managing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all activities comply with regulatory guidelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating with on-site contractors, and maintaining effective communication across departments.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Provide troubleshooting and support for unscheduled line shutdowns
- Manage and direct the work of on-site contractors as needed
- Maintain open communication with interdepartmental teams
- Attend production meetings and other relevant meetings
- Liaise with QA to ensure food safety compliance
- Maintain employee safety and ensure adherence to Aspire Bakeries plant safety policies
- Initiate plans to motivate workers to achieve goals
- Ensure reliable weekly startup of all production areas
- Estimate worker hour requirements for job assignments
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality
- Member of the Food Safety Committee, ensuring compliance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations
- Track and predict equipment failures, implementing improvement strategies based on data
- Lead the team through troubleshooting, downtime reports, and root cause fault analysis
- Maintain and provide training records
- Create a positive work environment
- Millwright or Electrician license to practice in Ontario or equivalent engineering degree/diploma
- 5-7 years of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Certification as a Class B refrigeration operator (asset)
- Experience in food manufacturing (asset)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to lead others
- Proven trades experience in technical problem-solving and decision-making
- Willingness to pursue additional certification/licenses
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with multiple priorities
- Knowledge of Government regulations as they apply to OHSA
- Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP
