About Beem Credit Union

Beem Credit Union, a leading financial institution in BC, is seeking a skilled Commercial Underwriter to join its Commercial Lending team. As a key resource, you will play a vital role in supporting the team's business growth and maintenance, while ensuring member satisfaction and minimizing risk to the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver loan products and services, collecting and preparing documentation for credit applications and conducting initial financial analysis to determine appropriate debt terms with Commercial Account Managers.
  • Review and prepare documentation for loan agreements and commitment letters, as required for progress draws.
  • Conduct annual credit reviews and prepare administrative reports and market research.
  • Prepare and follow up with member correspondence and inquiries.
  • Ensure lending and collection compliance, assisting with lending audit reviews and follow-up actions.
  • Fulfill credit monitoring and compliance requirements, including analysis of reports and financial statements.
  • Support pre-funding due diligence and security documentation completion and follow-up.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for retail and commercial sales and referrals.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in finance, commerce, or business administration.
  • Years of experience in the financial industry, including lending and/or loans administration.
  • Commercial banking and lending experience is preferred; experience with Real Estate/Land/Construction loans is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of accounting/financial analysis and credit principles.
  • Proactive nature with the ability to identify business development opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, and sound judgment abilities.
