About the Opportunity:

The Procurement team at Maple Leaf Foods is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join their dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with stakeholders to strategically source categories and improve overall value to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for assigned categories
  • Work closely with procurement operations, leadership team, and stakeholders to identify and capitalize on business opportunities
  • Provide leadership and expertise in category strategy support and development, RFX development and oversight, and vendor negotiations
  • Manage constructive supplier relationships and ensure continuity of goods and services that meet quality, service, and price performance standards
  • Identify, prioritize, and impact key business opportunities
  • Work with stakeholders and leadership teams to implement and enforce policies that increase spend visibility and compliance
  • Collaborate with finance teams to expedite receiving and AP processes

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in Business or Engineering
  • 2-3 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing / Procurement or related discipline
  • Superior analytical skills – able to draw insights and form recommendations
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm with ability to project influential leadership
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Well-organized; able to balance multiple competing priorities
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working in an SAP environment is an asset
