Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Operations Specialist to join our team at Aviva Canada. This is a challenging role that requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the external payroll vendor relationship, ensuring that services are provided according to service level agreements and that the provider remits payroll deductions to government agencies and benefit providers by their due dates. The role also involves serving as liaison with Aviva's payroll vendor, supervising delivery of services against established SLAs, and verifying and approving mass data submissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Vendor Management: Manage the external payroll vendor relationship, ensuring timely remittance of payroll deductions to government agencies and benefit providers, including taxes and statutory contributions.
  • Liaison with Payroll Vendor: Serve as primary point of contact with Aviva's payroll vendor, ensuring seamless delivery of services against established SLAs, and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Data Management: Verify and approve mass data submissions from Aviva, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislative and internal guidelines.
  • Year-End Processes: Work with payroll vendor to coordinate year-end payroll processes, balances, records & schedules, and off-cycle processes.
  • Employee Records Policy: Manage Aviva's employee records policy and processes, conducting file maintenance and record audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Standard Methodology Workflows: Collaborate with payroll vendor to determine evolving standard methodology workflows and payroll procedures to support business needs.
Requirements
  • Senior Payroll Experience: 7+ years of experience in senior payroll capacity.
  • Certification: Certification from the Canadian Payroll Association.
  • Technical Skills: Solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and ADP.
  • Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
