Senior Corporate Lawyer

At K'awatsi Economic Development Corporation, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Corporate Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team.

This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced lawyer to support the Director of Group Legal and Corporate Affairs in delivering strategic legal advice, managing organizational risk, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to corporate governance, legal risk mitigation, and support for initiatives that align with our organization's commitment to reconciliation and fostering strong relationships with Indigenous communities.

• Conduct thorough legal research and provide sound recommendations on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate law, regulatory compliance, and Indigenous legal frameworks.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect organizational interests and support business operations.
• Assist in developing and implementing effective risk management strategies to safeguard the organization from legal and reputational risks.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and governance policies, with a focus on advancing Indigenous reconciliation initiatives.

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for training, mentorship, and career advancement within a supportive environment.

• Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from a recognized law school.
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
• Minimum of 2 years of legal experience, preferably in corporate law, compliance, or Indigenous legal matters.
