Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Emergency Response: Perform emergency roadside repairs and ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • Inspections: Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure all aspects of the vehicle are in compliance with regulations.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent mechanical issues and ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • Communication: Receive and relay information to central dispatch, ensuring timely updates on delivery status.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Cargo Handling: Ensure the safety and security of cargo, including tarping and handling of hazardous materials.
Requirements
  • Certifications: Air Brake (Z) Endorsement and Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in long-haul trucking
  • Work Environment: Physically demanding, with regular sitting and attention to detail required
  • Personal Qualities: Efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, judgment, organization, reliability, and teamwork
