At Scotiabank, we are seeking an experienced Credit Director to join our team in Latin America and the Caribbean. As a key member of our organization, you will contribute to the profitable development of commercial credit in assigned geographical/industry areas.

This role requires a leader who can drive business growth while ensuring the assigned portfolio of corporate and commercial loans is maintained in sound condition within our current credit policy and local regulations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Performance
  • Contribute to the quality of the loan portfolio by providing prompt and sound decision-making in the analysis and adjudication of credit proposals within assigned limits.
  • Monitor timely submission of all applications and improve the quality of submissions.
  • Ensure accuracy of data in various databases and reports.

Operational Efficiency

  • E nsure that all terms and conditions of authorizations are accurate and that Scotiabank's position is fully protected by way of adequate security requirements and appropriate credit conditions.
  • Apply risk assessment guidelines and provide feedback and guidance to the field on these principles.
  • Maintain acceptable quality in the portfolio by monitoring accounts, industry emerging trends, and recommending suitable courses of action.

Client Focus

  • Develop commercial credit in assigned geographical/industry areas through direction, guidance, and meaningful constructive feedback to the field.
  • Supervise, direct, and counsel subordinates to achieve optimal performance.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • An MBA and Accounting Designation (CA, CFA, or CMA) or an MBA and Business/Economics Bachelor degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years' banking experience with knowledge of commercial/corporate banking or credit adjudication.
  • Prior financial and business analysis experience with excellent decision-making skills.
  • Strong people management skills with a demonstrated commitment to coaching and developing staff.
  • The ability to conduct business fluently in Spanish is required.
