Join Our Team as an Educational Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at Bluewater District School Board. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing medical, physical, and safety/supervision support to students with intensive special education needs in elementary and secondary schools.

About the Role

This permanent part-time (0.50 FTE) position requires a candidate with a secondary school diploma plus completion of a post-secondary education program in one of the following: Education Support Worker, Educational Assistant Certificate, Early Childhood Educator, Social Service Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Educational Assistant Apprenticeship Program or equivalent education and/or experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical, physical, and safety/supervision support to students with intensive special education needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, principals, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility
  • Support students with behavioral challenges and develop strategies to promote positive behavior
