We are seeking a highly skilled Community Development Specialist to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a professional who is passionate about supporting the well-being of children and families in our community.

About the Job

The Community Development Specialist will play a key role in identifying the needs of our population and implementing various community action programs. As a resource person for community groups, you will work closely with youth and families to create intervention plans, provide ongoing support, and promote healthy relationships.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement community action programs that address the needs of our population
  2. Work collaboratively with youth and families to create intervention plans and provide ongoing support
  3. Participate in meetings and review tables to discuss case plans and progress
  4. Represent the CBHSSJB at internal and external committees, as requested
  5. Record notes and maintain accurate records, as required

Requirements

  • College diploma in social work or a related field
  • 3 years of experience in youth protection, with a focus on community development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in crisis situations and intervene in a context of authority
  • Knowledge of Cree culture and social issues in Eeyou Istchee
