Role Responsibilities

The Government of Alberta, Technical Services and Procurement Branch (TSPB) of Alberta Infrastructure is seeking a Building Energy Engineer to provide technical expertise to stakeholders and optimize the design for energy performance and reduced carbon emissions.

TSPB provides professional and technical support, expertise, and project standards for the technical standards, planning, design, construction, renovation, commissioning, post-occupancy review, operation, and maintenance of government-owned and funded facilities.

The Procurement section drives value and minimizes risk for Alberta Infrastructure projects by championing leading-class procurement practices and delivering strategic advice.

This position reports to the Senior Sustainability Specialist and provides technical guidance to stakeholders to optimize energy performance and reduce carbon emissions, taking into account project budget restrictions.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Conducting design reviews based on Technical Design Requirements for Alberta Infrastructure facilities.
  • Participating in project development to provide guidance on energy target goal setting.
  • Advising on proposed upgrades to existing facilities in Alberta Infrastructure's portfolio.
  • Acting as a resource from project business case to facility operation.
  • Providing input to policy drafts, briefings, position papers, background material, and reports identifying important issues.
