About the Role:

The BC SPCA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team. As a key member of our shelter staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional animal care and welfare, adhering to the Five Freedoms and the BC SPCA's animal health policy.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a clean, sanitary, and efficient shelter environment.
  • Assist front office staff with various tasks, including telephone reception, counter inquiries, and adoption procedures.
  • Perform general office routines and record keeping, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, volunteers, and other staff, maintaining a positive and harmonious atmosphere within the shelter.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
  • Demonstrable interest in all aspects of animal welfare.
  • Knowledge of animal breeds, characteristics, and common diseases.
  • Ability to work as a team player and possess well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills sufficient to deal effectively with front office routines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize demands on time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of the BC SPCA Certificate, Part 1, or equivalent.
