We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Ledcor. As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of our projects, ensuring that our operations are conducted in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all projects are in compliance with relevant environmental regulations and laws, including those related to air and water quality, waste management, and habitat protection.
- Environmental Management Systems: Develop and implement effective environmental management systems to minimize the environmental impact of our operations.
- Field Inspections: Conduct regular field inspections to monitor and report on environmental conditions, including erosion and sedimentation controls, turbidity monitoring, noise and vibration, air quality, soil management, groundwater and stormwater management, and invasive species monitoring.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit regular reports on environmental performance, including project-specific key performance indicators.
- Training and Coaching: Provide training and coaching to operations staff on environmental procedures and best practices.
- Client Liaison: Liaise with clients and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to resolve any environmental issues that may arise.
- Education: Possess a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in environmental engineering, sustainability, climate change, civil or environmental law, environmental studies, or environmental management systems.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in environmental management, including experience with construction erosion and sedimentation control inspections and maintenance, groundwater and surface water management, sustainability, noise and vibration, and permitting processes.
- Certifications: Possess CAN-CISEC certification or demonstrated evidence of development, inspections, preventative, and overall management of environmental control measures.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and laws, including ISO 14001 principles and environmental management systems for construction projects.
This is a field-based position, requiring regular travel to project sites throughout the year in varying weather and site conditions. Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or nights may be required.
