Job Description:

  • Install and overhaul heating systems, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability.
  • Install refrigeration systems, including rooftop units and heat pumps.
  • Install ventilation, air handling, and air conditioning systems, meeting strict quality standards.
  • Interpret blueprints and instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation, optimizing system performance.
  • Measure and lay out reference points for installation, ensuring accurate placement.
  • Read blueprints and instructions to determine work requirements, identifying potential issues early on.
  • Troubleshoot heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems, resolving problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
  • Council and instruct apprentices, sharing knowledge and expertise to develop their skills.
  • Measure, cut, and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment, maintaining high-quality connections.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding promptly to customer needs and concerns.
  • Start up systems and test for leaks using testing devices, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as recharging systems with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators, and calibrating systems.
  • Interpret gas codes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Handle, recover, and store refrigerants, following industry best practices.
  • Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, or heat pump systems, minimizing downtime.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification.
  • Working at heights training.
  • A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate.
  • Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
