What is the opportunity?

The ideal candidate for this Senior Technical System Analyst role will join the Global Middle Office (GBOI) team under Business & Client Service Technology (BCS-T) group of RBC Capital Markets. The primary responsibility will be to provide technical solutions and automation for middle office and back-office applications for new projects and BAU enhancements, ensuring timely support for production issues with the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support middle and back-office applications for new projects and system defects.
  • Collaborate with team members and business partners to understand requirements and implement solutions.
  • Take ownership of delivering tactical and strategic solutions for system RoadMap items.
  • Identify system inefficiencies and provide/recommend proposals and solutions to stakeholders.
  • Follow the SDLC process by employing metrics, unit test-driven development, release cycles, change management, resource-driven project plans, and cross-functional communication.
  • Document system design, proposals, and release notes.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related fields with 8+ years of experience in software design & development.
  • Strong core Java experience, including development of large-scale web or client-server applications.
  • Working experience with tcl, perl, shell, Python scripting languages under Unix/Linux environments.
  • Strong experience with relational databases (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) and SQL programming language.
  • Knowledge of GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications/systems in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Previous financial industry experience, ideally capital markets trading, middle office, and back-office experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General understanding of FIX protocol.
  • Working experience with Fidessa framework development.
  • Experience with technologies/frameworks like NoSQL, real-time databases, microservices, and design approaches including event-driven architecture, cloud-based deployments, Service-Oriented approaches, and Streaming.
  • Cypress-based framework development experience for Rabacus Testing Environment.
