At CN, we're committed to excellence in transportation and logistics. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet. We're looking for a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team.

Duties:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles, including cars, light trucks, medium/heavy trucks, and truck trailers.

• Utilize electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, as well as other vehicle repair tools, to perform repairs and maintenance.

• Record details of work performed on prescribed forms, in accordance with established procedures.

• Work in-shop, outside, and at field locations as required, with variable shifts to accommodate vehicle availability.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Must be in possession of a valid Provincial Department of Labor Journeyman Certificate in the Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanical Repair Trade.
  • Additional mechanic certification (Automotive Mechanic Journeyman Certificate) is an asset.
  • Must be able to pass the current Mechanic 'A' test.
  • Must be capable of servicing and repairing various types of Hirail equipment.
  • Must have at least five years' experience in the Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport repair trade.
  • Capable of certifying company equipment in accordance with Provincial/Regulatory requirements.
  • Provincial driver's license is required, with Air endorsement and class upgrade an asset.
  • Capable of operating all types of vehicles and equipment serviced in the garage.
  • Required to have own basic hand tools sufficient to perform repairs and servicing to all types of fleet equipment.
  • Must be able to work either inside or outside at the terminal and away from the home point.

Working Conditions:

The work environment is a shop setting, with occasional outside work at terminals and in the field. Variable shifts to accommodate vehicle availability may be required, and prolonged stays away from home may be necessary when performing fieldwork.
