Accounting Leadership Role
TransAlta is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to lead our team and drive financial excellence. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a 1-2 year strategic plan to achieve annual objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach a high-performing accounting team to ensure the accurate and timely capture of business and financial results.
- Oversee financial governance by implementing and maintaining efficient financial processes and controls, ensuring compliance with IFRS and SOX requirements.
- Direct the application of accounting treatments and disclosures in coordination with the External Accounting function.
- Stay current with IFRS accounting standards and guide the accounting cycle through changes in contracts, markets, business growth, and expansion.
- Deliver key external reporting for two public entities, ensuring compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), IFRS reporting, and corporate policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in accounting leadership and financial governance.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and SOX requirements.
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills.
- Ability to stay current with changing accounting standards and regulations.
