About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Maintenance Worker to join our team at Sylvan Lake Beachfront Resort Ltd. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining the resort's buildings and grounds to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs to maintain a clean and hygienic environment;
  • Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse from public areas;
  • Empty trash cans and other waste containers regularly to prevent overflow and unpleasant odors;
  • Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings to keep the resort looking its best;
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs;
  • Contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment as needed;
  • Perform minor repairs on appliances to prevent downtime and maintain efficiency;
  • Perform safety and security checks to identify potential hazards and take corrective action;
  • Show apartments and offices to prospective tenants to showcase the resort's amenities and features;
  • Supervise other workers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively;
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies as needed to support resort operations;
  • Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair to maintain the resort's appearance and integrity;
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests;
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures to maintain high standards of hygiene;
  • Work with minimal supervision to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively;
  • Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas during winter months to ensure guest safety.
Requirements
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field;
  • Degree of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate;
  • Excellent written communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and guests;
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, to support resort operations;
  • Judgement to prioritize tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment;
  • Reliability to report to work on time and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding role that requires working in all weather conditions, bending, crouching, kneeling and handling heavy loads. Steel-toed safety boots are required for this position.

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include a competitive compensation package, opportunities for professional development and a dynamic work environment.
