The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical supervision to Mental Health and Addictions Program staff through ongoing review of client treatment plans, debriefing, and coaching. The incumbent uses evaluation techniques and evidence-based best practices to guide counselors to develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans in a medical and community setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct counseling services and staff clinical supervision to ensure a high quality of care.
- Assess, counsel, refer, and provide group therapy to clients.
- Participate as a multidisciplinary team member with other counselors.
- Administer meetings, planning, development of work, direct services, consultation, and evaluation of program.
- Provide mental health and addiction counseling and case management services in various hospital inpatient/outpatient and community-based settings in accordance with legislation and Ministry of Health guidelines.
- Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other Behavioral Sciences from a recognized program preferred.
- Minimum of three years' experience working in a mental health and addictions setting, including two years administrative/supervisory experience.
- Must have an understanding of predominant approaches to counseling, group therapy, and crisis intervention, familiarity with research methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver a psychosocial assessment and write a treatment plan.
- Ability to work well independently, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of and interest in First Nations culture, CISD training and experience an asset, registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (if a social worker) or another recognized professional counseling college is required, current knowledge of child protection/reportability requirements.
