Purpose
The Senior Manager, Leadership and Talent Management, plays a pivotal role in driving the development and execution of the leadership Dynamic Talent Management program (DTM) at Scotiabank. This involves defining program structure, facilitating the delivery of leadership initiatives, and overseeing the development of communications. The role acts as a trusted advisor to the HR Business Partners in their respective business areas, ensuring alignment with overall strategic goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Provide consultation and direction on Dynamic Talent Management (DTM) by partnering with HR Business Partner groups to provide relevant and timely insights related to talent management.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and facilitate more effective coordination and execution of leadership initiatives.
- Facilitate the analysis and evaluation of program outcomes, implementing process improvements to increase effectiveness.
- Support VP+ searches by reviewing talent lists and suggesting possible internal talent.
- Develop strong knowledge of high-potential talent in the business area supported to ensure opportunities are maximized for development and showcasing.
- Monitor and analyze leading trends and best practices on talent/leadership strategies and programs to identify improvement/enhancement opportunities.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations within their respective areas, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
- Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision, values, business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Experience/Education:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant HR experience.
- Undergraduate degree, preferably with a focus on business or human resources.
- CHRP, CHRL, or other HR designation, or in progress is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization and collaborate with HR stakeholders, business partners, and senior executives.
- Previous experience in leadership planning and development or a related field is required.
- Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of organizational structure and internal dynamics.
- Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking.
- Deep understanding of program design, development, and implementation.
- Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills.
