Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Specialist to join our Casualty Claims team at AXA XL. As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in handling complex claims and working closely with our Underwriting teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess coverage and prepare relevant correspondence to communicate with brokers and insured parties.
  • Provide directions to independent adjusters in investigating claims.
  • Evaluate and negotiate timely resolutions on assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partner with internal and external counsel in setting and pursuing effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation.
  • Coordinate and manage communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Consult with Claims management and Claims Legal on Large Losses and ensure all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome.
  • Maintain file notes, prepare internal reporting, timely reserving, issuing payments, and setting of electronic file diary in accordance with best practices guidelines.
  • Identify, monitor, and report on emerging trends in the insurance industry and legislative changes.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in a Bodily Injury/Casualty and Litigation claims handling role.
  • Experience with managing both Commercial General Liability (CGL) and Auto Bodily Injury claims.
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable degree.
  • Obtained or working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation preferred.
  • Superior customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized; ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities.
  • Collaborative and works well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
