Job Title: Director of Public Relations

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Public Relations to join our team at Questrade Financial Group of Companies. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and executing effective communication and media relations strategies to increase awareness and develop an enviable company image.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Nurture and lead a strong industry/media network
  • Develop and execute innovative PR strategy with clear objectives, budget, and planned tactics
  • Develop and execute media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast, and online media
  • Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within media and key influencers
  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests
  • Manage and create speaking points for QFG spokespeople
  • Curate content for press releases, byline articles, and keynote presentations
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis
  • Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising on an ongoing basis
  • Build thought-leadership opportunities to grow awareness and reputation
  • Collaborate with our social media team to engage audiences across traditional and new media
  • Generate non-traditional ideas, experiential events to further amplify our campaigns and product launches
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure all relevant PR content is on-brand, accurate, and consistent in positioning and tone of voice
  • Work with other members of the creative team (writers and designers) to generate fact sheets, infographics, and other visual elements for distribution
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience in leading public relations as a function and building PR strategy that identifies value-add opportunities for the business in the marketplace
  • Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level
  • Proven track record briefing and managing company spokesperson for both broadcast and print media interviews
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Solid experience with social media, including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Experience in event planning
  • Effective relationship-building skills with the ability to work well at all levels of an organization and interact confidently with senior management
  • Proficient in French, Mandarin, or Cantonese
