Job Summary
JSI is seeking a skilled Technical Writer to create comprehensive technical documentation for our engineering team. As a key member of our documentation team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality documentation that supports our software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including deployment guides, upgrade procedures, and system manuals.
- Collaborate with engineers to gather information and develop procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
- Act as the engineering documentation coordinator, working closely with development and support leads to ensure documentation standards are met.
- Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement, including style guides and content templates.
- Assume ownership of deployments and upgrades documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience as a technical writer, with a proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
- Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in an agile development environment.
- Experience with document encoding (XML, markdown, json, yaml) and content management tools (Share point, Confluence) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in technology, communications, or a relevant technical field.
- Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle) and experience in software development or QA.
- Professional certification (ex: Society for Technical Communication) and experience with configuration management tools (JIRA, TFS) is a plus.
