Job Description

Baker Tilly Canada Cooperative is seeking a highly skilled Taxation Expert to join our team.

As a Taxation Expert, you will work closely with our team of professionals to provide exceptional client service and deliver high-quality tax planning, services, and advice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review complex Canadian individual and corporate tax returns and other tax work prepared by staff
  • Review and approve technical research and tax planning recommendations for private companies
  • Deliver high-quality tax planning, services, and advice
  • Work closely with Tax Partners and other senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provision, and tax advisory engagements
  • Actively mentor and coach staff to their highest potential
  • Build and manage client relationships at a senior level within core hours of 9:30 to 4 and identify client service opportunities
Requirements:
  • Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program
  • 7+ years of public accounting experience with a tax specialty
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Canadian tax-related issues and of GAAP requirements for tax provisions
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
  • Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, project management, and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to coach and develop team members
  • Ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize, and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
  • A passion for tax work
Work Environment:

Remote work opportunities will be considered for this position if work is performed from a secure location such as your home office in Ontario. Position may require attendance to company events a few times a year.
