Job Summary:

Tomlinson Group of Companies is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Specialist to lead our occupational health and safety initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and monitoring health and safety hazards, developing strategies to control risks, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits to all locations belonging to the Tomlinson Group of Companies to identify and mitigate health and safety risks.
  • Develop and implement health and safety programs, including training for all employees and dissemination of health and safety information.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries, and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist with Ministry of Labour and WSIB issues, including injury claims.
  • Conduct surveys as required, such as noise assessments.
  • Attend project meetings as required.
  • Purchase safety equipment as required.
  • Continuously advance health and safety knowledge through educational programs.

Requirements:

  • University or college diploma in Health and Safety or related field, or an additional 4 years of experience.
  • 5+ years of related industry experience.
  • Must have a good understanding of the Health and Safety Act and Regulations and WSIB Act.
  • Must be an effective communicator – written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated effective teaching and presenting skills to both small and large groups.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Must have valid G class driver's license.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, up to heights of 30m, with the ability to lift moderate loads up to 30lbs.
  • Certified WSIB JHSC representative.
  • CRSP an asset.
  • Internal CoR auditor an asset.
