About This Career Opportunity

At Black & McDonald, we are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator to build high-quality metal components for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints to prepare for fabrication.
  • Construct base templates as necessary to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Measure and mark cutting and bending lines with precision.
  • Set up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on specifications.
  • Prepare components for welding by cutting material and setting up tools.
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
  • Align and clamp components for welding.
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
  • Perform quality checks on completed products to ensure meeting specifications.
  • Conform to state and company safety regulations.
  • Complete job reports to document progress.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered apprentice or Red seal journey person ticket.
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • AWS certification and advanced welding experience.
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools, including shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a team environment.
