Fraser Health is a leading healthcare organization in British Columbia, Canada.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Information Governance Specialist to join our team.

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity will see you play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care by ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Fraser Health's electronic health information systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To provide intake services and support to Fraser Health's Information Privacy Office, overseeing the development of comprehensive audit tools for clinical information systems;
  2. To analyze and prioritize all requests for consultation, and assist in the investigation of potential and/or actual information privacy breaches according to established best practices and regulatory body compliance requirements;
  3. To assist with the development and implementation of Fraser Health-wide information privacy program policies, processes and procedures for compliance with current legislation;
  4. To manage the information privacy audit software system by supporting, developing and maintaining the business processes necessary to ensure effective privacy controls and compliance with BC's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA);
  5. To participate in strategic planning, support and change management services by assisting the Coordinator in streamlining business processes and best practices to ensure FOIPPA compliance;
  6. To conduct business analysis of current FOIPPA compliance by carrying out workflow analysis, developing privacy information systems reports and repositories, and automating/updating current business processes within the portfolio;
  7. To work on assigned privacy projects and develop privacy impact assessments under the direction of the Coordinator by providing privacy analysis support and research;
  8. To research and analyze information privacy audit data for anomalies, trends, issues, continuous improvement activities and/or potential privacy breach situations;
  9. To provide assistance in the resolution of real and/or potential privacy breaches and related issues that may arise by following up with affected managers and department heads;
  10. To support process changes and/or functional changes to privacy audit tools by testing, modifying and maintaining these tools;
  11. To resolve operational issues with audit systems and follows up with service providers, as required;
  12. To participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of information privacy goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the department;
  13. To participate on assigned internal and external committees, as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A Diploma in Health Information Management and/or related field, supplemented with five years' recent, related experience in a medium to large sized organization including information analysis, database administration, report writing and experience in auditing electronic health information systems;
  • The leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework of Clear, Caring and Courageous and creates the conditions for people to succeed;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronic health information systems;
  • Knowledge of current information privacy practices including current legislation, statues and FOIPPA rulings;
  • Ability to analyze privacy best practices and to document them in policy/processes;
  • Analytical reasoning and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to deal effectively with others in a dynamic environment with changing priorities;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work;
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications;
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $105,000 per annum.
