Job Summary

The Driver Trainer is a critical role at AFD Petroleum, responsible for evaluating new hire candidates and providing field orientation training to new drivers. This position requires a strong understanding of transportation safety and the ability to mentor and train drivers to operate vehicles safely and confidently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train new drivers on the fundamentals of loading, unloading, and handling liquid bulk equipment operation
  • Develop and update training programs to ensure consistency and effectiveness
  • Coordinate simulator fleet maintenance, software updates, and technical support
  • Work with operations to ensure a consistent training process for all trainees
  • Lead, coach, and motivate drivers to improve their skills and performance
  • Conduct and document required classroom and behind-the-wheel training for drivers
  • Perform ongoing annual and post-collision driver evaluations
  • Assist in new candidate selection through pre-employment check rides
  • Review FLHA identified by drivers and identify corrective action or alternative solutions
  • Conduct site visits of new and current customer locations
Requirements
  • 5 years' experience in a senior driver role
  • Fuel experience/CFA required
  • Refinery badges preferred
  • Driver Training Experience
  • Simulator training experience is an asset
  • Class 1 License (required)
  • High School Diploma
  • CTSP-AMTA considered an asset
